Brett Jolly has played for the Delfonics many times. This was a show at the Borgata in Atlantic City where Brett Jolly played for them with an orchestra. Brett is the only one in the orchestra standing up playing his red bass guitar and you can see him at the 42 second mark.
This is a little bit different. This is a song featuring Jean Carn (Hit song “Closer than close”) and GC Cameron (Hit song “Its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday and It’s a shame by the spinners”). In this song you will see a guest vocalist at t he 2:16 time section. This person also played bass for the song (smile)
Here is the full show with a LOT of stars (“too many” for me to name). I played for everyone except the O’jays (They brought their own band…I have played for them before though). I am the one standing up in the orchestra with my red bass guitar.
The song “Me and Mrs. Jones” is one of the “biggest songs ever recorded “and it was Billy Paul’s biggest hit (He sang it). Brett Jolly had the honor of playing for Billy Paul’s “very LAST” rendition of his hit song before he passed away. Below is that version and Brett is playing his red bass guitar. RIP Billy Paul
Lalah Hathaway is the daughter of legendary singer Donny Hathaway. She is a “phenomenal vocalist” and sometimes she sounds “exactly” like her father (of course with a higher range). This is Lalah singing a song with Brett Jolly (far left on red bass guitar) performing for her. The song is “When your life was low.”
Ever since Brett Jolly was a little boy he always wanted to perform with the “Fifth Dimension.” The group broke up a long time ago but the 2 main singers (Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo) are still going strong and Brett Jolly performed with them at the Kimmell Center in Philadelphia. Below is one of the songs
The very first song Brett learned on bass guitar was “Hollywood’s Swinging” by Kool and the Gang. Brett was hoping that one day he would get to play for them. Well, at this event, kool and the gang performed “Celebration.” Kool is a bass player but he asked me to play along with them on the song. Kool moved out front, but when the song played the only bass line I heard was “mine.”The song is below, and I am hidden in the back but I am the one playing:)
At this event there were several stars. Ashford and Simpson, Gerald Levert and Frankie Beverly (along with Maze) were there. First Valerie Simpson and Gerald Levert are talking , and then Gerald says “Can you hit me with that bass line?” Brett Jolly is the one playing the bass line (in the back) and then Frankie Beverly comes out to sing. See the video below:
