Brett Jolly, regarding AI, first, please be informed that I sent you the above poster in Messenger last year. You did not respond. I got feedback from three award winning dramaturgs on my musical, “The Devil Ain’t Gonna Win.” Two of them straight from Broadway with awards winning productions. I now have an awesome contemporary musical. Some of the music was written by my late husband, Freddie Paulin, that you met at Bright Hope, and by the amazing Raimundo Santos. After years of rewrites and great feedback, the only thing missing was music for my new lyrics. Too many of you great musicians are busy doing other projects. We lyricists realize, as much as we appreciate and prefer human collaborators, time waits for no one. So, AI is the option. I use it as a tool for inspiring musicians to hear what music can be inspired by my lyrics. I still need real musicians to hear the AI versions, and be inspired, and do their own thing. AI is here to stay. If you have time, I’d like to share this project with you.

Hello Wilhemina. This is Brett Jolly responding back to you. Yes, I heard your music, and AI did a good job with it. However, you may have some issues with “ownership.” AI uses tools taken from other artists who “could” claim ownership of your material at some point. The best way to avoid any of this is to simply “pay” musicians up front to create the music you need. Of course, this can be costly but it will offer you “safety.” Your project is a great one, but if you believe in your project then you need to “fund” it. Don’t expect musicians to work for free, no matter how great your project is. Professional musicians only work for people who “pay” for their services. I hope this helps you to understand how the process of music creation really works. If you have any issue contact me. Thanks
